Does anyone know:

  • which Capt Bell Irving was serving with No. 35 Squadron at Thetford in 1916 (and where he was posted to [and when] )?
  • the forenames of Lt Gordon (serving with the squadron at the same time)
  • the forenames of Lt Rogers (serving with the squadron at the same time)
  • the forenames of Lt Tylee (serving with the squadron at the same time)
  • the forenames of Lt Chabot (serving with the squadron at the same time)
  • the forenames of Lt Newman (serving with the squadron at the same time)

I am also interested in any details about CJ Davidson and RJ Hounsey who were listed in the Record Books as being on strength of the squadron when it was formed

Regards

Pete

Airhistory.org.uk is the place to look.  Start at http://airhistory.org.uk/rfc/people_index.html

You asked:

  • which Capt Bell Irving was serving with No. 35 Squadron at Thetford in 1916 (and where he was posted to [and when] )?

Malcolm McBean BELL-IRVING with 35 Squadron Thetford  22.3.16 but wounded in France serving with 1 Sq on 16.4.16 having embarked for France on 10.4.16 see https://www.casualtyforms.org/form/12259

  • the forenames of Lt Gordon (serving with the squadron at the same time)

Vancouver Camden GORDON (wow!)

  • the forenames of Lt Rogers (serving with the squadron at the same time)

Clarence Elias ROGERS

  • the forenames of Lt Tylee (serving with the squadron at the same time)

Arthur Kellam TYLEE

  • the forenames of Lt Chabot (serving with the squadron at the same time)

Charles James CHABOT

  • the forenames of Lt Newman (serving with the squadron at the same time)

Robert NEWMAN

Tip:  Find the appropriate spreadsheet, find the first person with the appropriate surname (manually or using Control-F), then search using Control-F for "35Sq".

I am also interested in any details about CJ Davidson and RJ Hounsey

Having done so well up to now I'm afraid I can't find these last two in either airhistory or casualtyforms!

Thanks for the feedback; much appreciated.

I am also struggling to find information on CJ Davidson and RJ Hounsey ... they are mentioned in the routine orders as being on strength of the squadron when it formed .... but that is the only piece of information that I have available.

Regards

Pete
