Looking for any information in relation to the above soldier.

What I have so far

Born: Dunsdale , North Yorkshire

Entered France on 24th Sept 1915 aged 18

On 17th Sept 1916 it is believed that he was part of a bomb carrying party near Bazentin-Le-Grand which came under German Artillery fire.

He is listed on The Thiepval Memorial.

I am aware that OR's are not normally named in the diaries and there are 2 OR killed on that date

Pte 25020 J.E.Hart is mentioned in John Sheen's "With Bayonets Fixed"  (12th 13th Bn of the DLI)

you will find the circumstances surrounding his death there

There is also a faded photo of James in uniform on a family tree on Ancestry along with other details

Many thanks for this information I have passed this on to his Great Nephew, who was unaware of the book and has ordered a copy.

Kind regards

Paul
