freddy1918 Posted 1 November , 2018 Share Posted 1 November , 2018 (edited) A free centenary event, in conjunction with the WFA and Herts at War (not to mention some much appreciated support from CWGC) #GreatWar100 is taking place at the University of Hertfordshire's De Havilland campus at Hatfield next week. There is a Friday evening event, which consists of five abridged talks and a group Q&A session, and then a full programme on Saturday 10th. In all there are ten speakers. There are also five free interactive workshops for children throughout the Saturday, as well as a book shop, author signings, space to mingle with other WW1 scholars and enthusiasts while you have a drink, and there is commemorative centenary merchandise available that is being sold in aid of Veterans in Action, a charity that helps former servicemen and women with PTSD. Tickets aren't needed to get into the main area, anyone can stop in, but you will need to apply for places at the talks and the kids workshops. You can do so at www.greatwar100.online If you can't make it, but want to participate in some of the commemoration activities, you can submit photos of those who served or contribute to an audio roll of honour that will be played at the venue. All you need is a smartphone and an internet connection for that. Details are also on the website. Edited 1 November , 2018 by freddy1918
