janet00 Posted 27 October , 2018 Share Posted 27 October , 2018 (edited) Can anyone help me find more info on ancestor Miss Edith Mary Ricketts who was a British trained nurse, working for the American Ambulance Hospital of Paris. In 1918 she was awarded a medal by the American Red Cross Military Hospital, Neuilly sur Seine, Paris. Her medal roll says she disembarked with the BEF on 29 - 8 - 1914. It also says 'WS/5/499 entry' - what does that mean? In 1918 she was living in Paris and working at Hospital no.8, Clermont Ferrand, Puy de Dome. I have only found general information about the American hospital in France but nothing about Edith's nursing record (or where she went after the war.) Any help appreciated. Admin DavidOwen Posted 27 October , 2018 Admin Share Posted 27 October , 2018 (edited) Might this be her service record? Nee Stansfield the correspondence does confirm her married name as Ricketts from Bury. http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C10807116 Edited 27 October , 2018 by DavidOwen
janet00 Posted 27 October , 2018 Author Share Posted 27 October , 2018 No, she was definitely unmarried. Ricketts was her maiden name.

Is it the National Archives reference to the medal roll rather that to do with Miss E M Ricketts war service? (Thank you for the above again David. That sent me off towards very interesting research.)
Admin DavidOwen Posted 28 October , 2018 Admin Share Posted 28 October , 2018 Pleased it was useful. I am no expert but I think you are correct in that it is the medal roll reference.
