Admin Michelle Young Posted 27 October , 2018 Admin Share Posted 27 October , 2018 It might be an idea if you give your posts appropriate titles then you might get more answers. I do know that there were lots of flag days during the war. Michelle
keithmroberts Posted 27 October , 2018 Share Posted 27 October , 2018 If you return to your post you should be able to edit the title, but I think there is a time limit on that after which it can only be done by a Mod. Keith
Moonraker Posted 27 October , 2018 Share Posted 27 October , 2018 Er yes. I'm not sure what relevance "John B" has to the two ladies, but I was intrigued enough to look at the thread (as I was with bastock51's other recent thread, mysteriously headed "Mr". (Very few of us have time to look at all new posts, so our eyes need to be drawn to those of interest to us..) Googling "great war soldiers flag days" leads to many websites about WWI flag days and the pins and badges handed out - including the one from whence, perhaps, the illustration in the first post came. Here is a good article about flag days of a century and more ago. In answer to the original question, I suspect that the caption means "a flag day for soldiers", rather a Soldiers' Day on a specific date.
