My brother and I are researching the Princess Mary gift tins issued during the early stages of the Great War. We have collated some information form the WWW and the IWM. What we haven't got are pictures of troops with the tins or using their contents. If anyone has any such pictures they can e-mail a scan of, it would be good to hear from you.

Many thanks

David

Unfortunatly I don't have a scanner but if you can get hold of the following book there is a great photo of soldiers signing for their tins, there are about 3 crates of the tins in the picture.

Osprey Military Campaign Series #58, 'First Ypres 1914: The Graveyard of the Old Contemptibles' by David Lomas. Page # 93. ISBN: 1-85532-573-X

Hope this helps,

Lee

Don't know if this is of any use but I know that Princess Mary put a handwritten note in one of them and a Royal Munster Fusilier got it I can't think of his name but I will get it if you want.
