Has any pal access to crash or casualty report or court of inquiry into the death of 2nd Lt W M Staniforth, killed flying an RE8 from Castle Bromwich, 23rd March 1917? Any information would be useful.

Hi, isn't it Staniforth? (edit: op edited before replied - sorry)

Ex Yorkshire Dragoons?

Casualty card states "nose dive, error of judgement", aircraft details are given.

Thanks David. It is unusual in that he appears to be the only RE8 fatality from Castle Bromwich most of the others are either early training machines, then Avro s, later Sopwiths and SE5,s.

But no other mention of an RE8. He is noted as with 28 reserve squadron. Anyone any ideas why the " Harry Tate"?
