tbirduk Posted 22 October , 2018 Share Posted 22 October , 2018 I have a man who was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the British Army 30th November 1914, but it appears he was resident in Canada at the time? Would that happen normally or had his father (Acting Lt Colonel in the Regiment) pulled some strings? Man in question arrived in Liverpool on a ship 21 Dec 1914 with his younger brother (also a Canadian Resident) who was not commissioned into Dad's Regiment until 25 Jan 1915 ... the only one who survived the war was Dad! HolymoleyRE Posted 22 October , 2018 Share Posted 22 October , 2018 Not quite the same, but I have researched a Manchester chap, moved to Canada, outbreak of War sailed back to England and joined up into the RAMC only a day or after setting foot on British soil. The family assumed he had joined the Canadian Medical Corps, and transferred... Found his passenger records confirming the day he set sail and arrived in Liverpool.
