identification of items see today

1 suspect a handgrenade but could have been a potato or piece of flint . farmer pulled out while ploughing

presumably British but 3 or 4 dropped, or left , 2 out of picture.

wouldnt think they were faulty?

2nd photo looks to be a No 24 Rifle Grenade. The Mills have lost their base plugs which probably indicates they were early types fitted with the Aluminium base plugs that rot away on the Somme. These look to have been ploughed up, found and someone has then dropped them rather than take them home.

thanks GB, the grenades do look like they are white under, which would be in line with corroded aluminium. a couple of the fields were ploughed.
