rolt968 Posted 16 October , 2018 Share Posted 16 October , 2018 1 Scots Guards War Diary 15 September 1916: "........ At 5.40 the Armoured 'Creepers' which were to have lead the attack were heard approaching but unfortunately the enemy discovered them and open heavy machine gun and shell fire which caused them to remain stationary thus depriving us of their support in the actual attack......." Am I right in think that armoured creepers were tanks? RM

Many thanks for the map, It is much better than the ones I have been looking at. The man I am researching was lost (missing) during the attack. This must have been one of the earliest uses of tanks in an attack? RM
