Pilkem to Langemark

Hi all,

Myself and 2 colleagues are going over to Ypres shortly for  few days where we hope to do a little walking

I understand there is a walk along an old railway line from Pilkem to Langemark

Is anyone familiar with this walk, could pass details to me and a plan (if there is one) would be much appreciated

Hi Garry

There’s a footpath that goes from the outskirts of Boesinge (it starts on Poezelstraat), through Pilkem, and into Langemark. It’s a distance of 4km, an elevation gain of 50ft, mostly tarmac, and should take around 45 mins. It’s shared use with cyclists, so take care.

Hope that helps

It even starts at the Boezinge Canal.

And as to cyclists : be careful indeed, for if in the late afternoon one of them might be ... me.  :-)

Alternatively, and in order to avoid getting into a fight with a cyclo-terrorist (Not meaning you, Aurel, I'm sure you're careful and a nice biker...) you can take the Langemarkseweg and the Boezingestraat, which pass at Cement House Cemetery. Bit more of a busier street, but less chance of being run over by the Flemish terror-on-wheels.
