This is the 100th anniversary of the fight in the Argonne put up by Cpl. (Later Sgt. ) Alvin C. York of the 82nd infantry Divn of the US Army.

He killed 21 of the enemy & captured 132 more with the remains of his squads. He earned the Medal of Honor for his fight.

The site of the action is almost unchanged today & recent research has uncovered a lot of relics of the fight that have lain undisturbed for 100 yrs.

I won't go into the full story as most will know it. He did his duty when the time came & saved quite a few lives of his unit. A Christian man, one of his sons who became a pastor said his Dad was bothered for the rest of his life by the killing he did & never felt himself a hero.

A few yrs ago one of the machine guns he captured was found in a museum somewhere with the document attesting to when & where it was taken.
