Charles Hubert Hastings Parry: A great favourite with choristers – with this ex-chorister anyway – splendid anthems which were a real joy to sing.
Perhaps not fully appreciated by his fellow musicians, I think it was Beecham who said of Parry 'He would have set the whole bible to music – if God had let him'
A slight family/naval connection – Parry's house, Highnam Court served as a base for RNVR recruits during WWII as as such was briefly a temporary home to my father

My own family connection, Parry's half-sister married a distant cousing of mine.  I think the estate, though not Highnam Court itself went to that line.

Parry is also Composer of the Week this week.
