Remembered Today:

Worrying News from Gallipoli (again)

Recommended Posts

According to local news there is a new road widening work ongoing at Suvla (Anafartalar), and it's scheduled to be completed in more than two years! (810 days) The work will cover whole region (350 km in total!).

The roads need a proper maintenance indeed (all visitors will agree, I think), but it's not possible to understand the widening up to 14 m. Suvla is one of the most untouched areas in the Peninsula (as mentioned in the following tweets of our forum member akifemre), except for agricultural activities, with less traffic. Apparently we're going back to 2008-09 Anzac/Ariburnu scandal.

Hi Emrezmen

Thank you for posting this information.

While on the peninsula recently a friend who lives locally spoke of this road upgrade.

There is no doubt that it is required due to the increase in traffic. However it does appear to be excessively invasive.
