Dear all,

I'm looking for a trench map of the area between Serre and Beaumont Hamel with the above trenches marked and named, can anyone help please? My grandfather was there 1st July with the Royal Irish Fusiliers, 10th Brigade.

With thanks,

Ben

The WD of 4 Div HQ General Staff Jan - Jun 1916 (WO 95/1444/1-4) has one. Page 695/704 on Ancestry. Running from Q 4 c to K 34 c. I will check the NLS system, the 10 IB Orders for the march to the Assembly Point refers to Map 1:20,000 57 D NE and SE.

EDIT: The NLS maps do not name the trenches but you can use them to overlay the above. Q 4 to K 34 runs south to north.

If you have a copy of Michael Renshaw's Redan Ridge (Battleground Europe Series) at p. 13 there is an excerpt of this trench noted above that depicts Mountjoy trench running roughly north/northeast from the north end of Tenderloin/White City crossing Watling Street to 6th avenue.
