Paul Ormerod Posted 28 September , 2018 Share Posted 28 September , 2018 (edited) Remembering Rolston Parker Ormerod - Private 235067 - 8th Bn, King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regt) – who died on 27 September 1918, and is buried in Lowrie Cemetery, Havrincourt (Grave Ref. D. 5). Rolston Parker Ormerod was the son of Sam Ormerod, of 6 McLeod St., Nelson, Lancashire, and at the time of the 1901 Census was living at 22 End Street, Colne. At the time of the 1911 Census he was living with his family at 1 Railway Terrace, Nelson. On 27 September 1918, 8th (Service) Battalion, King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment), formed part of 76th Brigade, 3rd Division, and was involved in the Battle of the Canal du Nord, during the Battles of the Hindenburg Line. Original research had suggested that Rolston’s first name was Robston; however it has now been established - through census records and Rolston’s military records - that his full name was Rolston Parker Ormerod. The CWGC records, and Rolston’s gravestone, currently remember him as simply ‘RP Ormerod’. Edited 14 October , 2018 by Paul Ormerod
