kelly Posted 16 September , 2018 Share Posted 16 September , 2018 Hi , I'm currently researching a private 2785 George Berriman of the 1/5th Alexandra, Princess of Wales Own Yorkshire Regiment and understand he joined the local territorial force when he was 17 in 1913. Enough information to suggest the Imperial Service Order was signed before his 19th birthday in February 1915, would this have been allowed. He went to France the following April. Regards I'm not aware of any age limit on signing the ISO, early in the war buglers/drummers at age 14 could go overseas. If the army did not want a man/boy to go overseas after they'd signed the ISO then they'd just order them to stay in the UK so an age limit wasn't particularly needed. Graham Stewart Posted 11 September , 2020 Share Posted 11 September , 2020 I am attaching some photos regarding Imperial War Service and T.F. age taken from T.F.Regulations 1912(amended to 1st December 1914) and a follow up Army Order changing the age of enlistment into the T.F. in May 1915.
