Remembered Today:

"Certified" on offense sheet

Hello

Attached is a page from the Service Record of Gunner Edgar Atkinson, 89282, Royal Garrison Artillery

He appears to have committed an offense on 26/8/1919 but the nature of the offense says "Certified"

Can anyone tell me what that means?

Thanks

I take it to be certifying that there were no entries on his military conduct sheet.

Yes, I've seen a few of these. It's certifying that the Regimental Conduct ledger has been checked, not necessarily that the man has no entries. There should be a signature of the adjutant who checked it too or possibly the C.O., accompanied by a stamp of sorts.

Thanks to you both

I think the fact there was a date in the DATE OF OFFENSE column has confused me into thinking he had done something wrong!
