Guest Posted 23 August , 2018 Share Posted 23 August , 2018 Hello, I wonder if anyone could be of any help. After reading Alan Wakefield and Simon Moody's fascinating account, I noted that before the battle of Kosturino, there was a hospital located at Kajali in the village mosque. Does anyone know the village mosque is still there to this day? Even just the remnants of it? If anyone has visited, it will be fascinating to see the images. Best wishes, Daniel
awakefield Posted 28 August , 2018 Share Posted 28 August , 2018 Hi Daniel Nice to see that you've read Under The Devil's Eye. The account (from Bn War Diary) states a house in Kajali village was used by the MO of 7th Royal Dublin Fusiliers to house sick. The mosque mentioned was in Tatalri. The 32nd Field Ambulance set up an ADS there. Kajali was in the support line just behind Kosturino Ridge and was largely in ruins. Tatarli / Calakli is located at the foot of the ridge down behind Crete Simonet and was used by Brigades of 10th (Irish) Division as a reserve area and logistics base. There is still a mosque in the village but it is a new build on the same site. ALAN
