Tim Godden Posted 12 January , 2005 Share Posted 12 January , 2005 Hi there, Sorry if this seems a strange question, but it may be that someone knows. When the soldiers were paid in Francs did they receive it with a cost of exchange deducted or did the receieve it at the then current exchange rate or did the army set an exchange rate for the duration and stuck to it? Bizarre, I know, but the thought came to me when I was reading about a pay parade last night. Thanks in advance for any ideas on the topic and a very happy new year to one and all. Best regards, Tim
Muerrisch Posted 12 January , 2005 Share Posted 12 January , 2005 The official exchange rate was promulgated, as and when it changed, in Army Orders. A typical rate was 9d [old money] bought you 1FrFr. AOs include 450/15, 177/17, 324/
