steve fuller Posted 22 August , 2018 Share Posted 22 August , 2018 Hi, Am drawing a blank with National Archives or Ancestry - has anyone found the 190th Brigade war diary reference, or even a 63rd (Royal Naval) Division diary? WO 95/3119 is the closest I have got but does not appear to include the brigade itself, just a few of the units within it Many thanks Steve

David_Underdown Posted 23 August , 2018 Share Posted 23 August , 2018 (edited) Note that brigades (and battalions) are in Discovery without any suffix such as th, st or rd, ie you need to search for plain "190 infantry brigade" not 190th. Also if you've found elements of a brigade, use the link at the top of the page to "browse by hierarchy" and move back thorugh the pieces and you should find the brigade HQ - you'll see that the diary you'd found was only a couple of pieces after what you were looking for. The archival hierarchy of the records follows the military hierarchy of the units pretty closely.
