Dannemois Posted 14 August , 2018 Share Posted 14 August , 2018 Can someone please help with my interpretation of the service records of 31240 Roland John Fish, Worcester Regiment, which are on Ancestry. He attested 10 Dec 1915 and was posted to 5 battalion on 24 June 1916. His military history sheet states he received G.S.W. on about 21 May 1917 and wounded on 14 October 1918. There is something written between the two entries on 18 April 1918 but I don’t understand what happened that day. A check on longlongtrail reveal the 5th were at Plymouth and went on in autumn 1917 to Harwich for duty with the Harwich Garrison. What I would like to know if his wounds were from training or action?

Steven Broomfield Posted 14 August , 2018 Share Posted 14 August , 2018 The 5th Battalion was a Special Reserve Battalion so would not have gone overseas: your chap would have been serving with another battalion.
