GraemeClarke Posted 13 August , 2018 Share Posted 13 August , 2018 (edited) Hi, Hoping someone can help me. I seem to have every other date for the 7th South Staffords EXCEPT the one I now need (photographed them at SSR Museum and a download from NA ends in June 1917). I think Sergeant 16556 Ernest Yates was awarded the M.M. for his deeds at Wytschaete on 8 July 1917, his citation stating, ‘bravery when tackling a dugout full of Germans and bringing back four prisoners.’ Can anyone please help me with the War Diary for this date. May thanks, Regards, Graeme As an aside, the papers reported he had a Bar to his M.M. but this was most probably being confused with his brother, Arthur, who also was awarded the M.M.
