Percy Pudney 7586 Essex Regiment 2nd Battalion

My grandfather was awarded the DCM for his actions on 13 October 1914 near Meteren. I wanted to find out more about that and where he was and what his unit was doing around that time. Does anyone have a copy of the war diary for that time or any other information.

Thanks

Richard

Richard,

Welcome to the forum. The war diary can be downloaded from the National Archives, for a small fee at http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7352169

It is also available at Ancestry, if you have an account   https://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?qh=2apeyArclEiu2%2Ba9dW18Aw%3D%3D&db=UKWarDiariesWWI&gss=sfs28_ms_db&new=1&rank=1&msT=1&MS_AdvCB=1&gskw=1505%2F1&gskw_x=1&MSAV=2&uidh=9y4

Regards,

Alf McM
