Remembered Today:

G.C.I.?

My grandfather's diary entry, during a period where he was in the trenches, contains this line:

"No one in G.C.I. has been hurt yet."

I can't figure out what G.C.I. refers to. He was in Company B, 140th Infantry, 35th Division.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Probably no help but I know these initials as Ground Control Interception from an aircraft viewpoint but am informed it is/was a military term but it is perhaps general communication infantry or similar? Someone with more knowledge will be along soon I guess!
