verdun Posted 8 August , 2018 Share Posted 8 August , 2018 I am wondering if anyone has access to 104 Squadron records/war diary for August 1918. I am researching 2/Lt. H. O. Bryant, who was killed in action on 13/08/1918. Although I have Keith Rennles' excellent book, 'Independent Force' and have also accessed Harold Bryant's Officer File at the National Archives, I have not been able to trace any original documentary material that shows his flying career, or what happened to him. Also, can anyone tell me how many missions 2/Lt. Bryant undertook? Many thanks if you can help!

charlie962 Posted 8 August , 2018 Share Posted 8 August , 2018 (edited) I couldn't see any enquiry of the ICRC as so possible PoW for Bryant but I did find this for the pilot who was an American. Other entries in airhistory.org for Beaufort: There are clippings and a photo for Beaufort here on the Canadian memorial site Edited 8 August , 2018 by charlie962
charlie962 Posted 8 August , 2018 Share Posted 8 August , 2018 The result of the collision seems to be all four aircrew killed and these are presumably them together: Similar Casualty Cards can be found for them. Charlie

charlie962 Posted 8 August , 2018 Share Posted 8 August , 2018 Here are the death notes on ICRC for the 2nd aircraft. I post it because it shows the 'where' as near Arnaville. Strange that I couldn't find a card for Bryant but it may have been misfiled ?
charlie962 Posted 8 August , 2018 Share Posted 8 August , 2018 (edited) Here is the CWGC reburial report for all four showing where they were first buried. One hit by AA and the first aircraft topples onto the second and all four aircrew killed. Note there are extra pages for this on cwgc record Edited 8 August , 2018 by charlie962
