Keith Brannen Posted 6 August , 2018 Share Posted 6 August , 2018 Use the search function here: http://library.mcmaster.ca/maps/ww1/ndx5to40.htm to get the Map Sheet number and square grid, and then click on the map below it to see what maps are available. NOTE: it is Dickebusch.
Howard Posted 6 August , 2018 Share Posted 6 August , 2018 (edited) From that date range and area do not expect too much. Your best finds are likely to be hand drawn and found in war diaries and battalion histories rather than trench map collections. All the maps I have for the Kemmel area are 1917 and later. Kemmel is on 1:20,000 sheets, 28SW Howard Edited 6 August , 2018 by Howard Map sheet number
MBrockway Posted 6 August , 2018 Share Posted 6 August , 2018 (edited) You'll be lucky to find complete trench maps showing all trenches of both belligerents this early in the War. Here's the best I could find. Click the links to get the originals on Ancestry. None of these are available on any of the standard trench map websites. ... VOORMEZEELE 1:10,000 (Dickebusch-St Eloi) - 27th Div Jan 1915 Front line positions shown. 2nd Line shown as outline. German trenches shown. Source: war diary on Ancestry here (Account required) Sketch map of 27th Division Sector (Left of BEF Line - French Army to N, British 3rd Div to S) - Jan 1915 onwards Covers Dickebusch, Locre, Kemmel, but not completely to scale. Source: war diary on Ancestry here (Account required) KEMMEL WYTSCHAETE 1:10,000 - 3rd Div, Jan 1915 Some positions shown, but not general trench front lines. This is the next map southwards of the map above, with which it overlaps slightly - VIERSTRAAT appears in both. NEFERTITI Posted 16 August , 2018 Author Share Posted 16 August , 2018 Hi Mark, Thank you for the maps, they are just what I wanted. Many thanks for taking the time and trouble in assisting me. I can now trace my uncles movements with his regiment up to his death at Thiepval Spur on the 3rd July 1916. I owe you one. Many Thanks again
