Paul Ormerod Posted 5 August , 2018 Share Posted 5 August , 2018 Remembering today William Norman Ormerod - Private 42426 - 23rd (Tyneside Scottish) Bn, Northumberland Fusiliers, who died on 5 August 1918, and is buried in Leuze Communal Cemetery (Grave Ref. II. C. 3). The Commonwealth War Graves Debt of Honour Register records that William was the husband of Gertrude Binns (formerly Ormerod), of 14 Fisher Street, Old Trafford, Manchester. William was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, in 1885, and was working as a railway goods clerk in 1915, when he maried Gertrude (née Roberts). William and Gertrude lived at 23 Hanson Lane, Halifax, and William also enlisted in the Army in Halifax. William became a Prisoner of War, and died at St Foranyikans War Hospital, Leuze, Belgium, on 5 August 1918. He is remembered in the Halifax Town Hall Books of Remembrance, and on the Memorial at Saint Mary's Church, Halifax. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
