Map Reference Locations

I have a War Diary entries giving the locations

 

B.8.d.57 Sheet 36 - Nieppe Road.

 

G.11.a.56  Sheet 28 - Near Poperinghe?

 

Can anyone give me info as to where exactly these locations are/were, please?

36.B.8.d gives a 500 x 500 yd square about 1km NW of Nieppe on the Bailleul Road.

28.G.11.a is a 500 x 500 yd square about 1km east of Pop, midway to Branhoek.

 

I think the last digit is incorrectly written in both cases, it should probably be   5.7  & 5.6 

So if you were to input 36.B.8.d.5.7     and   28.G.11.a.5.6     into the search box of the Great War British Trench Coordinates Converter:

  http://rdf.muninn-project.org/TrenchCoordinates.html

 

it will give you 5x5 yard sqares representing those co-ordinates on Google Maps/satellite view.

 

 

[Trench converter can sometimes be fickle if you copy & paste coordinates- it sometimes returns an image of an underwater volcano at 0deg N, 0deg W, if there's an error in the search box- check it hasn't inserted any extra characters (like + or & )   other than the coordinates exactly as I have typed them.]

28.G.11.a.5.6 is in or around Query Camp

36.B.8.d.5.7 in or near the mill at Papot/ Pont d'Achelles.
