Paul Ormerod Posted 19 July , 2018 Share Posted 19 July , 2018 Remembering James Richard Ormrod - Lance Corporal 241127 - 2nd/5th Bn, South Lancashire Regiment – who died on 17 July 1918 in the War Hospital in Essen, whilst a prisoner of war, and is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery, Germany. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission Debt of Honour Register records that James was the son of William Ormrod, of 29 Bramwell Street, Parr, St Helens. He was born in Ashton-In-Makerfield, and enlisted in the Army in St Helens. James is commemorated on the Memorial Panel in St Peter's Church, Broad Oak Road, Parr, Merseyside. James' brother, Matthew, is also recorded on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Debt of Honour Register - having died on 30 December 1918, whilst serving with the 49th Training Reserve.
