What Certificate would this be?

The attached appears on a man's Service Record.

Can anyone advise what certificate this would be.

Thanks

This is from the 1904 KRRC Chronicle and shows some typical certificate subjects.

Mounted Infantry is there in force, but so is Musketry with presumably also the possibility of Musketry Instructor

The Mounted Infantry concept was highly favoured by both KRRC and the Rifle Brigade - many synergies with the Swift & Bold rifles traditions.

Between the wars the two regiments were also early adopters of the Mechanised Infantry role.

What's your man's regiment?

Thanks Gents for your input.

My man never rose above the rank of Private. He served with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

He had served in South Africa 1900-03.

I would perhaps side with mounted infantry on that basis.

Musketry instructors were usually called Instructors in Musketry, and were normally colour-sergeants. I would go with mounted infantry.

My gobbet of totals by certificate above from the 1904 KRRC Chronicle was for 3/KRRC.  The other three battalions list the individual men awarded certificates and ALL those awarded the Musketry certificate are Serjeant or higher.

Mounted Infantry definitely gets my vote.
