There appear to be more than two letters to the armband;

perhaps ?? U. O. T. C, a named University Officers Training Corps.

yes but I think the others are before not after ?  One can just see the dot before the U. Hence S.U.O. or J.U.O. seem appropriate ( and in view of context of original photo)

I agree with Charlie.  The acronyms that he quotes are very long standing in British Army Officer cadet schools.
