Errol Martyn Posted 5 July , 2018 Share Posted 5 July , 2018 Would someone be able to advise what R.D.B. ??? stands for, please. Possibly RAF Depot, Blandford - but if so what do the three letters following the R.D.B. mean? This appears on the AIR79 for an RAF Driver. Cheers, Errol

Steve Yes it could well be a particularly badly written "Sec", with a miniature capital 'E' followed by a looped 'c' . The second letter is identical to the 'E' in 'Med'. Errol Martyn Posted 5 July , 2018 Author Share Posted 5 July , 2018 Gents, Yes, Sec for Section seems most likely. But was there such a thing as Reserve Depot Balloon Section? Reserve Depot was renamed RAF Depot (at Blandford), 1 Apr 18. Blandford seems a likely destination for someone returning from overseas post-Armistice and prior to possible repatriation? Birtles was a New Zealand resident. He was posted to 'G' Reserve 28 Apr 19 and embarked for New Zealand on 27 May 19. Errol
