Indian Marking.

FR is the Indian equivalent of FTR

There is usually a date associated with the mark. Scrubbed right side of the receiver suggests a later (post WWII) refinish

DTE is also an Indian mark -- there is usually another letter (W) at 6 o'clock and a broad arrow in the middle - post WWII mark

Not coherent ones!

I have seen somewhat similar markings but none quite like it. I cannot think of anything that it might equate to (calibre etc) the format makes me think it might be a date (possibly date it was removed from the War Rerserve in the run up to WWII?) but that would be entirely guesswork.

Cheers,

Chris

Thankyou very much for getting back to me.

however I will continue to imagine it being carried by a brave Canadian through W W 2

all of whom were far better men than am I.
