I’m need help identifying what my shell casing was used in. It says 75mm Blank M9 Lot 1241-80 G.M. CO. The primer has 1942 stamped on it. It is about about 7 inches long. Thank you.

This is a WW2 75mm field gun cartridge (blank) made in USA by General Motors. This 75mm gun was used a number of American built armoured vehicles, including the M3 Grant tank. Basically a WW1 gun in a WW2 vehicle and not a very effective tank-v-tank weapon.  Many of the WW2 75mm & 76mm guns were very much higher velocity with cases 3 times as long as this.

So off topic for Great War
