CPL 9044 John Robert Clark

In memory of Bob Clark who died in action as a result of shelling while on patrol during the evening of 21st June 1917 at Hulluch Pas-de-Calais. Bob was the fifth son of Lucy Ann & George Clark, Wellington Street & husband of Sarah Clark, Morris Street Peterborough, to serve, all of whom became casualties and was the second of three brothers to lose their lives in that conflict. He joined the 1st BN Bedfords in 1907 before being recalled as a reservist 1914 initially training recruits at Landguard Fort Felixstowe. He lost his life serving with 8th BN Bedfordshire Regiment.
