Guest Posted 14 June , 2018 Share Posted 14 June , 2018 I’m doing some research into my great grandfather. John Robinson. All I have is a marriage ceritificate from 1916 that gives an age of 23. He lists himself as being in the 16th royal Irish rifles and his address as what looks like ‘the camps, alnwick’ does anyone have any information about whether they would have spent any time in alnwick Northumberland or any sites or tips that might help me track him down. Thanks.
Anneca Posted 14 June , 2018 Share Posted 14 June , 2018 Hello Leamornor, this link might help you with 16th Bn. Royal Irish Rifles http://aaaguide2ww1info.co.uk/?page_id=938 but not sure about them spending time at Ainwick Camp - you might find something about it in the link. The camps were in the grounds of Ainwick Castle and the Castle have a Great War Week: https://www.alnwickcastle.com/events/great-war-week Regards Anne
