TGM Posted 13 June , 2018 Share Posted 13 June , 2018 1918: Victory and a new Europe (Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, 5/6-30/9 2018) Just come back from seeing this display amongst other things. Many may be familiar with similar displays/exhibitions in the past. What I enjoyed about this one was the chance to see Victory medals side by side from the UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands (for those individuals who fought with the allies), Italy, Czechoslovakia, Romania and the USA and a selection of medallist Karl Goetz's satirical medals. The coins and banknotes from newly formed states is interesting too - the Russia (Soviet Republic) three rubbles note has to be the smallest I've ever seen. This display follows on from the excellent display on Inflation, Identity and Nationalism: German emergency money between the wars which ended on 3/6/2018. Ron Clifton Posted 17 June , 2018 Share Posted 17 June , 2018 TGM Thanks for the tip on this one. Like most Cambridge residents, I rarely visit the Fitzwilliam but I will try to see this exhibition. Ron
