rmtruby Posted 8 January , 2005 Share Posted 8 January , 2005 Has anyone heard of or seen the film "Ararat"? Apparently, it deals with the Armenian massacre of 1915. I was also wondering what wider significance the Armenian massacre had on the course of the war? Thanks Ray
Desmond7 Posted 8 January , 2005 Share Posted 8 January , 2005 It certainly had an effect on the thinking of a certain corporal. When he was told that the world would be outraged by the 'final solution', Hitler is said to have remarked: "Who remembers the Armenian genocide?" Interestingly, some of the best documentary pictures of the Armenian genocide were smuggled out by a young German soldier who was sickened by what he saw. When the 'race laws' were applied in Nazi Germany, he sent the pictures to Hitler in the hope they would stir his conscience. As we all know, they did not. In fact there's a fair chance they merely reinforced his thinking. Des
