Medic7922 Posted 8 January , 2005 Share Posted 8 January , 2005 Can anyone help in knowing if there was a Locally Recruited RAMC field Ambulance in Portsmouth during the 1914/18 war. I know a number of the local Hospitals were used for military casualties in Portsmouth but I cannot find out if a field Ambulance was raised and staffed by Pompey men and served in the trenches of Franch & Belgium. HERITAGE PLUS Posted 9 January , 2005 Share Posted 9 January , 2005 Steve The 3rd Wessex Field Ambulance (Territorial Force) was the Hampshire county unit. It would have included men from Pompey.
