tullybrone Posted 4 June , 2018 Share Posted 4 June , 2018 Hi, It might assist members in providing an answer if you provide some context. If you have seen the phrase in a document could you possibly attach a copy or a link to it please? Steve

tullybrone Posted 4 June , 2018 Share Posted 4 June , 2018 Thanks Ray. OP should now recall it has been asked and answered previously. I wasn’t following that previous topic but I surmised the answer was going to be around “sapper” but wanted to make sure that the OP hadn’t misquoted/misheard his source - as “sap patrol” also sprung to mind. Moonraker Posted 4 June , 2018 Share Posted 4 June , 2018 The term appears to retain some particular significance for the Royal Engineers as a tune called "The Sapper Patrol" is played by the Corps band. Sadly I can't find a readily-accessible rendition, nor the lyrics, on line. Moonraker
