what is the meaning of "Sapper Patrol"?

It might assist members in providing an answer if you provide some context.

 

If you have seen the phrase in a document could you possibly attach a copy or a link to it please?

Thanks Ray.

 

OP should now recall it has been asked and answered previously.

 

I wasn’t following that previous topic but I surmised the answer was going to be around “sapper” but wanted to make sure that the OP hadn’t misquoted/misheard his source - as “sap patrol” also sprung to mind.

The term appears to retain some particular significance for the Royal Engineers as a tune called "The Sapper Patrol" is played by the Corps band. Sadly I can't find a readily-accessible rendition, nor the lyrics, on line.
