loujn #1 Posted 3 June , 2018 (edited) Just a quick question please - were the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters at the battle of Aubers 9/10th May 1915? One of the men I am researching was injured on 9th May 1915. I’ve looked at the war diary for the Battalion on that day and they were at Rue Petillon. I was just trying to understand the location and relation to the battles of the war. thanks in advance, louise Edited 3 June , 2018 by loujn
Bordercollie #2 Posted 3 June , 2018 Yes 1/Foresters were at Aubers with 8th Infantry Division. If you look at the map of the northern pincer in the LLT article on Aubers (see link below) you will see them pretty much in the centre of the map. Rue Petillion is also marked. http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/battles/battles-of-the-western-front-in-france-and-flanders/the-battle-of-aubers/

We are planning an exhibition on our 100 year Armistace memorial so I wanted to make sure my facts were correct. Thanks again.
