StonehengeMaid Posted 31 May , 2018 Share Posted 31 May , 2018 (edited) Today I visited the grave of my Gt Uncle at Varennes Military Cemetery near Albert in France on the 100th anniversary of his death. A quiet lovely place with views to beautiful distant countryside that has healed the scars created by the ravages of war. I never knew him, being born some 30 years after his untimely death but feel I have got to know him over the years that I have researched him. I am aware of his great sacrifice and all the other soldiers that lie with him in that corner of France. He and all of them are not forgotten. Guest Posted 18 July , 2018 Share Posted 18 July , 2018 Arthur was married to my great grandmother; we are not blood related as I do not believe they had any children together. Have attached a photo of him - not sure if you have one already. We are hoping to visit his grave over the summer.
