Iris A Posted 24 May , 2018 Share Posted 24 May , 2018 I am wondering how to obtain the discharge and enlistment certificates for my Grandfathers service in WW1. I have his records but no certificates. Can anyone help me out?

When you say you have his records do you mean you have found them through one of the online sources or you have inherited them? For us to be able to help you further perhaps you could provide us with his name, regiment and service number and we can see what can be found. But as Craig has just said, they may not exist. Iris A Posted 24 May , 2018 Author Share Posted 24 May , 2018 I went online and got his records from WW1 and it has all his documentation but I knew of other soldiers who had a beautiful certificate they could frame. I don't know if he ever had one but I would love to be able to add them to his history. Grandpa was Alvin Kesler reg#3212913 military service # 349478 MC Born Dec 23, 1895. He also served as Veteran Guard in WW2 in Lethbridge, AB at the concentration camp.
tullybrone Posted 25 May , 2018 Share Posted 25 May , 2018 Hi, Welcome to the forum. I’m assuming your relative served CEF? I’ve usually found a copy of the discharge certificate in the online Canadian Service file. You may want to post on CEFSG via below link - similar to GWF but concentrating on Canadian Expeditionary Force. Whilst there is a crossover of membership from GWF/CEFSG you may find more information from members there. Good Luck. Hi, Sorry I’m not aware of an AIF forum. Ive just googled “Australian Imperial Forces forum” and found this which may be of interest - http://www.dontforgetthediggers.com.au/ AIF service files are available via Australian archives - http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/explore/defence/service-records/ Steve
