Hi All

Searching records for a friend and would like some info on the following if anyone can help?

James Frew b1891 d?  Shotts, Lanarkshire

Son of John Frew & Flora Black.

I have copies of part of his service record and Medal Cards, but no reference to any brigade or battery.

Any assistance would be gratefully accepted.

Alistair

Since 19th Division crossed over to France 16-21 July 1915 and Frew's MIC says France 20/7/15 then reasonable to presume he went over with them ( Of course Service Record may show this anyway ?)

Hi,

The highlights of his papers seem to read:

Attested (Shotts) 14.1.1915 and posted 6 RFA Depot (Glasgow)

Posted 1 Section 19 DAC 30.1.1915

Overseas 19.7.1915 to 18.12.1918 (2 periods of home leave. 'Hospitalised' with influenza 29.8.1918 to 10.9.918)

No indication of service with, or posting to, any other unit

Discharged on demobilisation 16.1.1919 from 19 DAC

The war diary is here at the National Archives.

Regards

Chris
