240th Employment Coy Labour Corps

Can anyone tell me where I might find information on the 240th Employment Coy of the Labour Corps between 3rd November 1917 and 6th July 1918?

I have a soldier Tom Drury (Pte 474167) who served as a cook with the 240th Coy over this period. He was killed in July 1918 and buried at Pernes British Cemetery.

Any help gratefully received.

Hello Marigold

It was part of 46 (North Midland) Division, but does not appear to have a surviving War Diary. You might find something in one of these:

WO 95/2665 Headquarters Branches and Services: General Staff 1917 Nov. - 1918 Aug.
WO 95/2666 Adjutant and Quarter-Master General 1915 Feb. - 1919 July
In the latter case, there are several diaries in the same box, so you might have to add something like /2 after the file reference. It should also be on Ancestry, but there you will have to omit the WO95/.

Dear Ron,

Thank you very much once again. What would I do without your great expertise? I'm really grateful.

Hi Marigold

I'v had a look at the files I have on the Labour Corps and can find nothing at the moment on the research (240) you are doing.
