angelab Posted 19 May , 2018 Share Posted 19 May , 2018 An unusual series of postcards seen at Richmond upon Thames museum today: altogether, they make up a portrait of Jesus, and episodes from his life. They were sent from France by Arthur Boyes to his son.
KevinBattle Posted 20 May , 2018 Share Posted 20 May , 2018 Never seen anything like that before - shows that the Post Office then were efficient enough NOT to lose one!
squirrel Posted 21 May , 2018 Share Posted 21 May , 2018 Nice display - shame about the "Army Service Corps Royal Engineers" mention though.
angelab Posted 21 May , 2018 Author Share Posted 21 May , 2018 Yes, I wondered about that... My late father-in-law was in the ASC as a driver, and his work seemed to be very involved with the Royal Engineers (he even had in his house a sort of RE shield mounted on a board). I thought Boyse might have been a similar situation, and somebody had misguidedly stuck the two together.

2ndCMR Posted 27 May , 2018 Share Posted 27 May , 2018 Apparently the term "Western Front" is lost from the popular mind. At least until Hollywood makes a movie about it.
