Morar Andrei Posted 18 May , 2018 Share Posted 18 May , 2018 (edited) I have an image from a Romanian documnent from 1910, connected to the Ministry of War, but I can not recognise what is written. It would help on a little study I recently began about the history of Romanian army and its aviation. Edited 18 May , 2018 by Morar Andrei

593jones Posted 18 May , 2018 Share Posted 18 May , 2018 I wonder if the initials could be FSH - Farman Shorthorn? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farman_MF.

Morar Andrei Posted 18 May , 2018 Author Share Posted 18 May , 2018 (edited) It is possible to be Farman MF.11. They were used by the Romanian aviation. Thank you for help! What about the first image, on the "EMPLOYER" section? Edited 18 May , 2018 by Morar Andrei
Interested Posted 18 May , 2018 Share Posted 18 May , 2018 Looks to me like "Dr. Porn of the Ministry of War", which I assume is someone's name.

That's what I was thinking too, but sounds strange for a name. I have never met this name neither for an English or a Romanian. And for adress, it looks like " Strada Ponnel Vardisi / București", but I have not found any mention about a street name or any other thing called like that. Interested Posted 20 May , 2018 Share Posted 20 May , 2018 Well done Dave, shows the name is more likely than Morar thought. I'm no longer sure about the "Dr" though. It doesn't look like Ml (i.e. Marcel), could it be "Dl"? Did Marcel have a relative? Is there a forename that abbreviates to Dl (e.g. Daniel)? More research on the name needed! Also, if the address is Strada Pomnel Vardici then I think this can be translated from Romanian to read "Street called Vardi" or something like that? Morar Andrei Posted 20 May , 2018 Author Share Posted 20 May , 2018 Firstly, I thought on the name it was written "Dl", an abreviation commonly used for "Domnul" ("Mister" in English), which would so translate as "Dl. Porn"/ "Mr. Porn". But I may be wrong...
