Scottish Women's Hospitals

I am trying to find out where the 13th century Abbaye du Royaumont is in France. It was the first Scottish Women's Hospital, 200 beds, established by Dr Elsie Maud Inglis under the auspices of the Red Cross.

Villers Coterets was another hospital and I just cant find where they are in France exactly. Would appreciate any help and info.

thanks, sunflower ;)

I visited the Abbaye in 2003, it is a truly magical place, serene and beautiful. It doesn't take too much imagination to see again the wards and rooms put to their wartime use. I also managed to get to speak to the archivist and view the Abbayes collection of Great War material.

It certainly looks worthy of a trip and I will make sure I do visit next time I am in France. May well be fortunate to have a look at the Great War Collection, it must have been very interesting.

Thanks again
