Hi

I am researching a Pte.Joseph Beck who was in the 1st Bn Lincolnshire Bn.Regiment, Household Cavalry and Cavalry of the Line Reg. Died 30/08/1917.Buried in Beersheba.

I am wondering if there would be any war diaries for this regiment in the Palestine campaign, been looking through Ancestry but have had no look.

Cheers for any help.

Regards Mike.

The Lincolnshire Yeomanry lost 2 men that day, their first fatalities since 2nd Gaza.

He died as a result of an air attack:

On August 30, the regiment was attacked at Goz El Bazal by three enemy aircraft, which dropped 21 bombs, wounding eight men, including Fred, and killing Private Joseph Beck, who came from Sleaford. The regiment returned to El Shauth where Fred died of his wounds.  More details are here.

Hi Gareth,

Thanks very much for this link this is brilliant cheers.

I have a newspaper clipping regarding Joseph being in the water for 4 hours before being picked up and now thanks to the link it answers that question.

Best wishes Mike.
